Car Key Replacement: reading the quote
Locksmith · Toronto, Ontario

Yes. When a door lock is forced and replaced, or an ignition is swapped, the car can end up needing two blades. A locksmith can rekey the replacement cylinder to match the surviving one, so a single key operates every lock again, and cut new keys to that combination. The transponder side is unchanged by the lock work, so your existing programmed keys carry on starting the car once the blades match.
Where the vehicle is
Travel is part of every mobile call. A car on a driveway across town and one in a lot at the end of a rural road involve different trips, and the quote reflects the distance.
Original or aftermarket part
A manufacturer fob and a good aftermarket equivalent both do the job on many models, at different part costs. The locksmith says which is proposed for your car and why, and the quote names the part.
Transponder, remote or proximity
A key with only a chip, a remote-head key with buttons and a full proximity fob are three tiers of hardware and three programming procedures. The quote names which one your car uses.
